GRAPHIC DESIGN PROGRAM NAMED ONE OF THE NATIONS
BEST
The graphic design program at The College of Saint Rose has been named among the nations best by
a leading organization in the field of visual communications.
The Art Directors Club of New York (ADC) has selected
Saint Rose as one of the top 10 graphic design schools in the country. With the designation, five graphic design students
from the College were invited to present their portfolios to some of the best creative directors, art directors and designers
in the field at the ADCs annual Student Portfolio Review, held Tuesday, May 22, in New York.
Saint Rose is the only
college in the Capital Region, and one of only two in upstate New York, invited to show at the portfolio review. The designation
places Saint Rose with such nationally recognized art institutions as the Carnegie Mellon School of Design, Cooper Union,
Syracuse University, Parsons School of Design, and Rhode Island School of Design.
Students who presented at the May
22 portfolio review are: Name Hometown Sarah Anderson Albany Sandra Greenman Melville (Suffolk Co.) Anne Hobday
Albany Melina Rodrigo Glasco (Ulster Co.) Christine Vespe East Hills (Nassau Co.)
This is the third consecutive
year that the Art Directors Club, one of the oldest and most respected associations in visual communications, has placed Saint
Rose among this prestigious assembly of art schools, a recognition of the quality of the design training that our students
receive, said Saint Rose President Dr. R. Mark Sullivan.
The Art Directors Club of New York is an international organization
of leading creative professionals in advertising, graphic design, interactive media, broadcast design, typography, packaging,
environmental design, photography, illustration and related disciplines. Its mission is to promote the highest standards of
excellence and integrity in visual communications, and to encourage students and young professionals entering the field.
The
College of Saint Rose Art Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, a distinction
shared by fewer than 200 institutions nationwide. The graphic design program emphasizes concept and content development as
the principles of art are applied to visual communication. Graphic design majors earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic
design, which is considered within the industry to be the best possible preparation for a career in graphic design.
